I am far from an expert. But my uncle told me that the VFW used to rent out 1903 Springfield's for 5$ during deer season here in Michigan. One year, they ran out before he could get one, and they rented him a Krag, in the shorter length, but it was not the carbine.<br />He had 2 Krags, the full length and what we called the sporterized length. pigpen51https://www.blogger.com/profile/01036907880805485560noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20147126.post-36868651500229781032019-01-29T18:36:41.991-06:002019-01-29T18:36:41.991-06:00Damn. I wonder if it was used for that. I recall that they had a mishmash of rifles during that time. This gun was re-worked professionally sometime in it's life. Consensus on a Krag forum I put it on it that it was probably done for a VFW so that it would be the same size as the 1903 rifles that VFW's used for ceremonies. It's definitely a handy size and it balances really nice though. If it shoots well, it's staying.Murphy's Lawhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17164780742334950772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20147126.post-80641663487026371472019-01-15T17:02:18.657-06:002019-01-15T17:02:18.657-06:00Calvary model?Calvary model?Well Seasoned Foolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16670165728759453075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20147126.post-32509070736643238772019-01-15T15:09:21.413-06:002019-01-15T15:09:21.413-06:00Nice.
