However, Ted is a bully and was upset that the procedure to recite the pledge was not done to his specific instructions. They would gather the children in the gym to recite the pledge and this was not good enough. Bully Ted wanted it done ONLY in the classroom and because he did not get his way he went to the press to make an issue of this, mostly because he is now retired and has nothing better to do. He needs to get a hobby. Now concerning your comments regarding our very patriotic state it might amuse you to know that we have incurred the most deaths per capita in the Iraq conflict, pay the highest property in the nation and have produce twos Presidents (Coolidge and Arthur). Those are only a few examples of our state's patriotism. If you would like to know more, look them up yourselves.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20147126.post-42831845071939749852008-11-17T12:35:00.000-06:002008-11-17T12:35:00.000-06:00I remember this one teacher. Mr. Lasswell was his name . . . He said: "I've been listening to you boys and girls recite the Pledge of Allegiance all semester and it seems as though it is becoming monotonous to you. If I may, may I recite it and try to explain the meaning of each word:

I - - Me; an individual; a committee of one.

Pledge - - Dedicate all of my worldly goods to give without self-pity.

Allegiance - - My love and my devotion.

To the Flag - - Our standard; Old Glory; a symbol of Freedom; wherever she waves there is respect, because your loyalty has given her a dignity that shouts, Freedom is everybody's job.

United - - That means that we have all come together.

States - - Individual communities that have united into forty-eight great states. Forty-eight individual communities with pride and dignity and purpose. All divided with imaginary boundaries, yet united to a common purpose, and that is love for country.

And to the Republic - - Republic - a state in which sovereign power is invested in representatives chosen by the people to govern. And government is the people; and it's from the people to the leaders, not from the leaders to the people.

For which it stands.

One Nation - - One Nation - meaning, so blessed by God.

Indivisible - - Incapable of being divided.

With Liberty - - Which is Freedom; the right of power to live one's own life, without threats, fear, or some sort of retaliation.

And Justice - - The principle, or qualities, of dealing fairly with others.

For All - - For All - which means, boys and girls, it's as much your country as it is mine.

Since I was a small boy, two states have been added to our country, and two words have been added to the Pledge of Allegiance: Under God. Wouldn't it be a pity if someone said that is a prayer, and that would be eliminated from schools, too?

Red SkeltonAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20147126.post-16419443612384156292008-11-17T11:31:00.000-06:002008-11-17T11:31:00.000-06:00Amen to Heather!Amen to Heather!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20147126.post-60373285524294001232008-11-17T00:48:00.000-06:002008-11-17T00:48:00.000-06:00You know it things like this, that makes me think ...You know it things like this, that makes me think we should just kick Vermont out of the union and make them be Canucks!
What A$$e$.HEATHERhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06324130429322268692noreply@blogger.com
