New Orleans metro area is just one big island. Bonne Carre Spillway, Lake Pontchartrain, and the Mississippi River are the boundaries. And even the best houses around here are really configured for cold like this, wherw the water comes in is exposed to the elements on almost every house.JayNolahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08968502576630432928noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20147126.post-23136337617082376932018-01-17T17:33:25.218-06:002018-01-17T17:33:25.218-06:00I was in Memphis once and saw the same thing. NO insulation, poor heaters, exposed pipes...Mine's one of the better ones but I've got these issues now. And the elevated roads ice and the ice won't melt off for a while, meaning most bridges and concrete road spans are too dangerous to drive on. We've had fatalities today because of it. Interstates and Mississippi River bridges are all closed because of this. It's more serious than it looks.Murphy's Lawhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17164780742334950772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20147126.post-72367763264445844272018-01-17T16:16:10.156-06:002018-01-17T16:16:10.156-06:00Heh. The highway department has no equipment to remove snow and no knowledge of how to do it, and driving in it would be fine if you weren't surrounded by people who have no idea what they're doing. It's like walking through a room full of drunks juggling chainsaws. I stay home till it melts. Everything is closed, anyway.
