When thugs attack--one officer stands tall in the face of sixty cowards.

So once again, we have another law enforcement officer who is attacked and threatened with death by a crowd of lawless scumbags and gang-bangers, this time in Modesto, California.
A Modesto police officer had to pull his gun to keep a hostile crowd at bay early Sunday.

The officer sustained minor injuries in the southwest Modesto incident, said police spokesman Sgt. Brian Findlen. Police are not releasing the officer's name. The officer's dog was assaulted but not seriously injured, Findlen said. Police arrested several suspects in connection with the incident. A loaded assault rifle was found later at the scene of the struggle, which unfolded about 2 a.m.

Findlen said the officer pulled his gun only after other deterrents, including his police dog, failed to keep the crowd under control. "In a situation where you really feel that your life is in imminent danger, your options become very few," Findlen said.

Some members of the crowd told the officer that "he was not going to leave the scene alive," according to police.

The crowd of as many as 60 people included some known gang members, Findlen said. Police believe the group was gathered for a party in the 1700 block of Pelton Avenue. The officer happened upon the group when he was responding to another call in the area.

The officer saw several people assaulting one man, Findlen said. As the officer tried to break up the fight, the crowd's attention shifted from the assault victim to the officer. The crowd surrounded the officer. The officer sent his dog into the crowd in an attempt to stop the group.

The dog apprehended one suspect, who police later identified as 18-year-old Alfredo Espinoza of Modesto. As the officer tried to arrest Espinoza, the crowd pulled Espinoza away from the officer.

According to police, some in the crowd then challenged the officer to a fight. One suspect attacked the officer, police said.

The officer's two-way radio was broken during the struggle. The officer then used his gun to hold off the crowd as he tried to tell neighbors to call 911. Someone in the crowd had a police scanner, Findlen said, and told the rest of the crowd that other officers weren't responding to the scene. It was then that the officer was told he wouldn't be leaving the scene alive, according to police.

Backup units responded after calls from other residents.

Other officers responding to the scene stopped a vehicle and found Espinoza inside, Findlen said. The driver, 20-year-old Modesto resident Andrew Mitchell, and the passenger, 19-year-old Modesto resident Matthew Reyes, were arrested on suspicion of resisting and delaying a police officer, assaulting a police dog, and "lynching." Lynching is a law enforcement term that means forcibly removing a suspect -- in this case, Espinoza -- from police custody. Two police scanners were found in the vehicle.

Two other suspects were arrested at the scene of the struggle. William Rodriguez, 29, of Modesto was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, false imprisonment of a police officer and lynching. Junior Suarez, 19, of Modesto was arrested on suspicion of resisting and delaying a police officer and lynching.

During a follow-up investigation later Sunday morning, police said, officers found a loaded, banned assault rifle that police believe was used at the scene of the party. Gabriel Avila, 21, of Modesto was arrested on suspicion of possessing an assault rifle.

Detectives are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information is asked to called the Modesto Police Department at 572-9500 or Crime Stoppers at 521-4636. Tipsters also can text information to 274637. Type "TIP704" with your message.
The article doesn't mention the fact that Modesto is home to a large number of illegal aliens, and it's on us to wonder how many in that crowd of gang members were here illegally with the full blessing of California's sanctuary policies and Nancy "Illegal Aliens are Patriotic" Pelosi.

But legal or not, there's no way that a bunch of savages should ever feel brave enough to attack and threaten a police officer in this country, particularly when that officer is simply doing the job that he was tasked with doing. This officer stopped to break up a fight and assist a citizen who was under attack, and his thanks is an all-out assault on him by five dozen mutts who obviously felt as if they were the law in that neighborhood.

Well at least it ended somewhat ok, with a few of the thugs in custody and the good guy and his dog going home safe, but that neighborhood needs to be seriously tuned up, and I hope that the police department gets some balls and goes in there full force to clean up it's backlog of outstanding warrants, and that includes the thousands of local immigration violators who have refused to leave our country after being ordered out by an immigration judge. You fools want to act like animals? Fine--we'll cull the herd and deport or imprison you, your friends and your relatives, and we'll hammer you like a gong until you get the message and learn to show the proper respect to the laws and law officers of this country.

This sort of thing is bullshit, and while it's sadly common now, it didn't happen on a daily basis before the Liberals took over and changed the focus from criminal control to police control. The American Snivel Liberties Union whines about police brutality, but back when police were allowed to kick a few asses and "hold court in the alley", the thug culture understood it's place and didn't feel brave enough to run wild like they now do. Thanks for nothing, ACLU.

Oh--and note the latest example of the trend of gang members to carry police scanners and use them to monitor law-enforcement response to crime scenes. That's almost routine now and it represents more danger to the police officers and the citizen victims of these criminals. This is why I support laws that criminalize the use of scanners in the commission of crime or their possession by known criminals, just like I support laws that ban the use or possession of body armor by criminal offenders. The whiny-baby police-haters may cry, but I support any law that makes our police and our law-abiding citizens safer, and if it makes those who chose a life of crime less safe, well that's just too damned bad.

  1. Several points:
    1. Having read this report, does anyone seriously question the need for magazines that hold more than 10 rounds? Pistol and rifle?

    2. I understand that this was in commiefornia, but will someone for crying out loud tell the press that just because a rifle is black it doesn't mean it's an "assault rifle". Sorry, standard rant.

    3. I've got to think that the officer, when hearing that he wasn't leaving alive, said something to the effect of "that may be, but I'm taking a bunch of you with me. Who wants to be first?". Otherwise, he wouldn't have come out with only minor injuries.

Congratulations to the officer for keeping his head, and going home alive at the end of his shift.

This has to be the best paragraph I have read in a long time which summarizes all the BS that is going on around us today. It epitomizes all of it in just those few well written words. And calling it the American *Snivel* Liberties Union ...CLASSIC!! (I may have to steal that one).

But don't worry, I won't steal your Lagniappe. It seems all the feisty red heads here already have dibs on him anyway. :-)

"I support any law that makes our police and our law-abiding citizens safer"

That's great. However, if a police officer is not law-abiding, they need to go right into the "non-law-abiding" category. What I mean by that is don't lump all police into the "law-abiding" category just because they are police. If police officers break the law, then they are as bad, if not worse, then law-breaking civilians.

And on the ACLU: The ACLU doesn't go after cops for no reason, they go after them because the screwed up. Moreover, when you talk about police holding court in an alley and beating people, you are talking about the police BREAKING THE LAW! So how can the possibly be "law-abiding" then? Don't you see that? I hope you get it now.

Just remember: No one is above the law.

You hit the nail on the head.. They don't respect us and they don't fear us. They know we are out gunned, out manned and out protection from the neighbors.

It is absolutely disgusting that this happened. But as you said they are SAVAGES....... After the unbelievably tragic deaths of 4 Officers in Oakland you would think some would stop and pause. Nope they step it up a notch, act like fucking cowards that they are, and gang up on ONE MAN. Yup thug life at its best.

I hate them, will always hate them. The more Police cull the herd no matter how the better off the law abiding citizens will be.

Glad both the Officer and his dog are doing ok.

  5. Don't you miss the 'One riot, one ranger' ethos?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yeah, JL I do. But these days, that Ranger gets sued by some ambulance-chasing lawyer and the ACLU and his department refuses to stand behind him. Welcome to 21st Century America.

It is time to declare war on these animals.

  8. Kudos to the officer. That had to have taken a lot of guts to stand down a hostile and threatening crowd like that.

  9. Wow, looks like I am going to have to start posting under my name rather than "anonymous". Too many people claiming the anon tag with conflicting attitudes that aren't mine. The replies are starting to read like the diary of Sybil.:-)

  10. There are circumstances in which it is TRULY us vs. them. This was one of those circumstances. An officer in that position had every legal right and authority to use whatever force he deemed necessary to protect and defend life, including his own !!

I would of course rather be tried by 12 than carried by six ANYDAY.

The average person does not understand or comprehend this position as they never have been or ever will be in our profession and subject to these situations.

I'll default to my training and my instincts when the defecation material hits the rotating oscilator...ANYTIME.

I have yet to see a Police use of deadly force in which everyone in the public agreed that the officer was justified and I'll not base my decision to use deadly force on the "impressions" of others.

  11. It is so frustrating lately to have all these assaults on officers by all these hoodlums. East Coast, West Coast, MidWest....it doesn't matter where we work or live, it is happening way too often lately all across this country. And it angers me. We are moving to a lawless state in this country. (and people wonder why i keep stocking up on ammo so much!!)

Punks and illegals. Predatory vermin that need to be eradicated.

Good for that cop, he must have been scared spitless, but as Scott said, he maintained his composure. If I had been him, when they hit my dog, I would have given a new definition to "crowd control".

Yeah. Tell that to the 3 branches of the Federal Gov't that are destroying what is left of our Republic. For 96 years and counting... Screw the ACLU.

why wont you post my comment? you know it's the truth. the reason I went into LE is because it runs through my family. I support the police but realize our place in society. My department has some cops like you. Thinking that just because they are cops they are better than citizens. that a badge somehow makes them an elite member of some society. well our purpose is to PROTECT and SERVE not CONTROL.
the laws out there to regulate what we can and cant do are for a good reason and without them this would be a police state. cops like you dont deserve badges. your only in it because you want to boss people around but ill bet money not many people respect you.

  14. I didn't post it because I doubted your central claim--that you are in fact a police officer. Just because you call yourself "Deputy Chief Johnson" as you did in that post doesn't mean that you're for real, especially when you use it to validate a bunch of nasty comments about police in general.

Fact is, no real cop talks like that in public, especially one who has enough on the ball to make rank. Granted, there are many inept and buffoonish people in the command ranks of America's police agencies, but even they don't post a lot of smack about police officers on blogs.

Sorry, but you came across as just another cop-basher, only one who took a page from the Democrats that like to call talk radio and claim to be Republicans and then excoriate the GOP.

  15. "cops like you dont deserve badges. your only in it because you want to boss people around but ill bet money not many people respect you."

OK, Superman. I have to take issue with this one.

1 - Learn some grammar and spelling so you don't sound like a complete ignoramus.

2 - Fact of the matter is you don't know WHAT kind of cop he is. You don't know him. You don't seem to understand his point of view, and you base your claim on no evidence other than your petulance about being censored. WAH! Get over it. Hell, you don't seem literate enough to even understand what he's writing!

Yes, there are police out there with superiority complexes. Yes, there are those who don't deserve to wear the badge. And yes, there are those who have earned nothing but disdain. No one deserves respect JUST because they wear the uniform, but they certainly deserve a modicum of decency as human beings and people who choose to PROTECT and SERVE. And no one deserves disdain JUST because others in uniform have shamed them.

Most that I know are decent, honorable and honest. The rotten ones get the media, and the good ones get a pat on the back.

Ever hear the old line about the media, "If it bleeds, it leads"? It means bad news gets the press, as do bad cops.

I'd be willing to bet that if the good deeds got as much press as the bad, people would be worshiping them as heroes, much like they love us Soldiers.

So step back and stop acting like a puerile jackass, sparky.
