Yo--Airport...I wanna lodge a complaint!!

So yesterday afternoon, I heard the sound of multiple radial engines overhead...and low.

Looking up, I saw a B-17 flying overheard, in the pattern for Lakefront Airport.

It's there this weekend, along with lots of other warbirds, for the World War two Airpower Expo.

It kept circling the pattern for about half an hour, flying low over my house every time. Finally I had to call up the airport and complain.

ME: "Hey, airport...there's been a B-17 bomber practically orbiting my house for half an hour!"

KNEW: "And you're calling because it's annoying you?"

ME: No! I'm calling because it STOPPED. Get it back up there, man...I was just settling into my lawn chair for the show!"

Alas, they were not horribly accommodating. So I guess that means that I'll have to go out there and see it and the others tomorrow...with my camera of course, just for all of you who can't be there.

Meanwhile, today it keeps flying over my office...and I'm not getting any work done because I have to keep going out on the patio to watch it.

My life...sigh.

  6. With all the money I've given the CAF for Fifi, I think I might have paid for one set of sparkplugs....

  7. We live near Philly's Northeast airport and heard the sound of large radial engines. Just like always we jumped up and sprinted outside to see what was flying by. I think it was Fifi. Our dinner guests were quite puzzled, but you have to have priorities.

  8. Yep, I've had those moments. Rushing outside to see. Once at my daughter's office to see Fifi on final to KADS. Another time on a flight taking a 150 to Memphis from Key West a B-17 passed in front of us and a little below. I could faintly hear Twilight Zone music in my headset.

  9. My house is near KNGB so they aren't able to get over this way. But I do get to see the air show when it comes.
