The media now is reporting that many in Congress were impressed or frightened by the large numbers of illegal aliens that invaded our cities this past week-end to put their disrespect for our laws and culture in our faces while demanding that we give them all the benefits that law-abiding citizens and legal immigrants get. Well you Senators and others who are worried about angering all those people need to remember one key fact: They can't vote, at least until Ted Kennedy and John McCain make it happen. But there's millions more of us American citizens out here who can vote, and we're tired of being insulted by these trespassers who break our laws and publicly claim that if we deport them they'll just come right back again. We want protection for our jobs, schools and hospitals, we want respect for our national sovereignty, and we want you to do what those great legislators in the House did and make these people felons and start booting them out. ICE agents need to descend on every pro-illegal rally from now on and start checking identification and locking people up. That'll stop these gatherings real quick.
Once we secure our border with a wall, a moat, a minefield or whatever it takes, we can bring in as many legal immigrants or guest workers as we need but it has to be people who respect our laws. Rewarding these criminals for breaking our laws is an insult to us and to every single immigrant who came or is applying to come here legally. And in the meantime, here are a few things that we want to see in the name of immigration reform:
1. Speed up deportations of any illegal. Pass whatever laws need be passed to end all these hearings and appeals. If they're illegal, they need to be placed back on their side of the border and they can appeal in writing via one of our embassies.
2. When an illegal is arrested and jailed for a felony or even a serious misdemeanor, they need to be deported immediately upon release, not tossed back among the rest of us. What is so hard about this? 29% of our prison population now is illegal and few of them will be deported. Most of those released will commit other crimes. Am I the only one who sees a problem with this?
3. Illegals should not be eligible for college, public housing, free medical care, or other benefits. They also should be barred from cashing in lottery tickets, filing or collecting on lawsuits in our courts, or collecting Workman's Compensation or other benefits intended for US citizens and lawful resident aliens.
4. If an illegal is caught driving a car without a driver's license and insurance, they need to be snatched out of it and turned over to ICE and whisked right across the border.
5. Any alien who is deported and returns needs to be incarcerated on a work farm for a year or so (building roads, harvesting crops or working on that border wall we need) and then re-deported and permanently barred from ever coming back again. If they do come back, they get five years for the second offense.
6. Any employer who hires an illegal needs to be heavily fined and/or jailed. And the government needs to set up stings to see which employers will hire people that they know or suspect to be illegal.
7. Birthright citizenship needs to be stopped. Illegals who hop our borders to have kids or who have kids once they get here cannot be granted permanent residency or citizenship for this. They need to be sent home and they can take those kids with them.
8. The Salvadorans who are here on "temporary" emergency visas due to the hard times in their nation need to be sent home too. We seltered them for a while after the hurricanes and civil war ripped their country apart but all that is over now and Salvadorans were supposed to go home but they keep getting extensions, most recently from the Bush Administration. We've got this massive MS-13 gang problem now and it's these Salvadorans who make up MS-13. They need to go back home now.
If this wasn't so serious, I'd offer a light suggestion about at least allowing illegals who are attractive anglo women from Europe to stay. I'd also suggest that we trade Americans that we don't need (our career felons and unpatriotic people like Alec Baldwin, Michael Moore, Barbra Striesand, the Dixie Chicks, etc.) for fresh immigrants from other nations But I'm not going to go there today. This is actually serious and I'm angry and I represent a lot of other angry Americans. We're upset about this major display of disrespect and overt attempt at intimidation that we've seen on the part of these illegals and we want these people removed, not granted citizenship. And the 2006 elections are coming up fast. This will be THE issue for many of us and most of those illegals running around waving signs demanding that we change our laws won't be casting ballots. But I will, and so will a lot of other Americans. If you blow us off trying to pander to these foreign invaders I promise that you will pay a price on election day.
