So two days ago, we get the first snowfall of the year. Just 2-3 inches, but enough to turn every third driver on the roads into a one-person traffic jam as they creep down the two-lane highways at 20mph with their 4-way flashers blinking. (Why do people do that? It's not like we can't see your slow-moving car without the added distraction of the flashing orange lights...)
I finally get home about two hours later than normal and tiredly make myself a turkey sandwich prior to going to bed. And Lagniappe knows that it's his dinnertime too, so he stands in the kitchen watching me make the sandwich, prancing back and forth between me and his dish. Of course I used the last of the dog food the day before, so I go downstairs to get the other bag, only to find out when I get it back upstairs that it all went bad when it got wet due to some basement flooding a month ago. meanwhile Lagniappe is still doing his "feed me" dance despite the fact that we now have no dog food.
I'm not going back out and driving seven miles to the store. But Lagniappe's hungry. And he keeps looking at my sandwich. Like I can sit down and eat it without feeling some guilt over him not having any food?
I sigh, open the refrigerator back up, get the turkey and bread back out, and I make him a turkey sandwich just like mine only without the mustard and mayo. He wolfs it down then goes to lay on his rug by the wood stove, happy and content. Some people say that I spoil that dog.
Do I?
Depends if you cut it crosswise or diagonally.
ReplyDeleteAw, heck! I would have given my puppy Kira anything she had wanted at that point! :) I spend way more money on her than on me. lol. She attempts to steal my food anyway whenever I try to eat. Even after devouring a large bowl of puppy chow!
ReplyDeleteI did post a short little video clip of Kira on my main blog site this morning in case you are interested. ;)
And I cannot stand winter weather drivers!! I think they should just all stay home if they are going to drive like idiots out there!! Heck, it makes me not want to get out as I don't want to become a victim of their stupidity!
Nah, he's not spoiled, he's cute. I'd have made him a sandwich to.
