Ron Paul finally quits

And like a tree falling in the forest with no one there to hear it, it doesn't register or even rate a story with most of the news services. I had to search to find even this little snippet on CNN.

So there you have it. RuPaul's going back into hibernation, at least until he can come up with another publicity stunt to keep his name in the news. His followers are probably climbing bell towers and book depository buildings right about now, at least the ones who can get time off from their jobs at McDonalds. Sadly, this means that we'll be seeing far fewer nasty and poorly-spelled all-caps posts on message forums as the Paulites won't have any more reason to harangue us over our choices not to vote for their surrender-monkey icon who was going to revamp our economy single-handedly within three days of his assuming the Presidency. So long, guys. I guess you'll all be getting back to your Dungeons and Dragons games or your militia meetings now. It's been fun.

Umm...try again. He is not dropping out, nor has he dropped out of the race.
    Here's the real story.

  2. RuPaul is the only one of the candidates I actually had the (dis)pleasure to meet personally. I shook his hand about 20 years ago, as he was campaigning in Lower Manhattan. There was something I definitely disliked about him, but he didn't make much of an impression upon me.

He just showed his insignificance by being the only congresscritter to vote AGAINST a condemnation of the 6 March 2008 massacre at Yeshiva Mercaz HaRav in Jerusalem.

[I was, of course, quite edgy between the time I heard the news on the radio while driving home that there was a massacre at a yeshiva in Jerusalem, and the time I got home and was informed by my wife that she had spoken with our son, who is now learning at another yeshiva in Jerusalem. And one of the guys in my congregation, whom I met at Shabbat services, had studied in Mercaz HaRav and knew some of the victims. And, for those of us who take a shine to the 2nd Amendment, the gunman was taken down before police arrived, by a neighbor who happened to have his weapon available.]

Ron Paul is a nothing. Its his followers in the bell towers and book depository buildings and in trucks with ammonium perchlorate parked in front of Federal Buildings who concern me.
