Lunchtime. Mmmmmm...Yogurt.....

So for lunch today, I had some tasty yogurt.

I haven't bought this stuff in years, but I was in the grocery store the other day re-stocking the pantry, when I saw this yogurt on sale. Sure was a good price.
But I don't eat yogurt, I told myself.

Then I remembered that Michael Weston on the show "Burn Notice" eats it all the time.

Well hell, if Michael Weston eats yogurt, It must be a good addition to my fitness-oriented diet. I bought some.

Then as I was walking out of the store, it dawned on me that I'd just bought this stuff solely because a character on a TV show liked it.

DOH!

I guess that subtle product placement advertising does work.

Lucky for me, I like yogurt. But I really have to start getting out more.

  3. Oh my, you've found yogurt.

Next you'll be buying organic yogurt and adding granola to it -- and before anyone has time to intervene you'll be wearing birkenstocks, voting democrat, and praising Obama.

    I can't bear to watch. :-)

  4. Aaron,

Feel free to bite my red, white and blue, America-loving anti-Obama ASS!

BTW, how's Governor Granholm working out for you these days?

  5. Not as good as Byrd is working out for you. :-)

But we're about to share her with the nation, she's joining Obama's economic transition team.

You won't be thanking us for sharing, really.

  6. I thought that she promised to stay her full term if re-elected two years ago?

Oh that's right. Democrats don't have to keep promises!

  7. Oh, she's still staying as Governor for now, just coming over so everyone else can enjoy the full Michi-suck experience.

  8. Hey, wait a minute - organic yogurt is very tasty! Especially with granola added for texture and crunch! Dried cherries or strawberries are a nice addition, too. Or you can throw a nice dollop in your fruit salad to spruce it up a bit.

    Birkenstocks, however, are right out.

  10. This right-winger has been eating yogurt for many, many years. Back about 20+ years ago, when I did a fair amount of traveling for Uncle Sam, duty called me to many locales which did not have kosher restaurants (including but not limited to up the river from you in Cumberland). And so, among the food I toted with me was always a few cups of yogurt (usually left them in the freezer the night before, and wrapped them in newspapers or towels just before leaving).

I haven't had granola in a while. My typical breakfast is freshly-popped popcorn (no butter or other grease), fresh fruit (usually grapes or cherries, whichever is in season), a few fresh pecans or almonds, and a cup of yogurt. Sometimes I'll substitute rice cakes for the popcorn.

Yogurt keeps well in the freezer. Twice a week, when I teach, I am in convenient proximity to several stores which carry my preferred brands of yogurt, so I stock up on it whenever the supply in the freezer runs low.

[It does my marriage no good to discuss the probably salutary effects upon my wife's weight and health, if only she would eat more yogurt and less cream cheese. So I won't discuss it!]
