Man Movie Fight

In this scene from Pittsburgh (1942), John Wayne and Randolph Scott slug it out in a coal mine...in suits. Among other things, they were fighting over Marlene Dietrich.

Guess they needn't have bothered.

  1. Dames!

Conditioned by so many Merrie Melodies clips, I was waiting for one of them to fall backward into a coal cart, which would then go careening down the tunnel. I guess it was sort of the same thing on the vertical axis.

A new country anthem, this time with the guy coming out on top, might be: I Got the Coal Mine - She Got the [elevator] Shaft.

  2. I've never seen that one, and I like Donald's idea for a song :-)

  3. Afterwards, Randolph Scott said to the limp, battered Marlene Dietrich:

"Wow honey you're an antracite for sore eyes".

PS: Rumours abound, Randolph Scott was a regular "bum-buddy" of Cary Grant.
