Happy shooter

Took the Spudster to the range today. He shot an Armalite AR-7 .22lr and a Smith and Wesson Model 10 in .38 Special. Every round he fired from that .22 was on target. Happy kid.

I also gave him a few shots with the Glock 19. He does pretty good for a beginner.

Shooting next to us at the range were two off-duty Secret Service agents, easily identifiable because they were wearing their badges in plain view. They were shooting at the steel falling plates and timing each other. They seemed to be clearing the six plates in the 8-11 second range, usually due to rushing and missing plates that required follow-up shots. We talked for a bit as we shot and when they were done, I asked them to time me on a run. With my wrist brace on, I cleared all six in 7.2 seconds with the Glock, shooting it clean. Happy me.

Of course now my wrist hurts again. But it was worth it to smoke the Secret Squirrels.

Back when everyone was getting all 'gamey' at IPSC, and going from .45ACP to .38Super, I was still shooting full-house .357, outta a 3".
One of the regulars (DEA, I think) privately congratulated me afterward for shooting what he called 'street' loads.
We smoked a lot of cops back then, many would show up once or twice and never return.
Glad you smoked these guys.

That grin on his face has to be the best part of the day, though!

I like the AR-7. I especially like that it's now being made as the Henry in anti-gun NYC Brooklyn.
