American murdered in Libya identified as former Navy SEAL.

Another one of the dead Americans in Libya has a name now: Glen Doherty.

Doherty, originally from Massachusetts, was working as a private security contractor when he was murdered along with our Ambassador. Before that, he'd been a Navy SEAL for seven years. He died trying to protect Ambassador Christopher Stevens and foreign service information officer Sean Smith. Their whereabouts were unknown for twelve hours as Obama campaigned in Las Vegas.

I'd love to see Obama show some remorse or anger over this death of an American who served honorably and subsequently dies in the service of our country, but according to his schedule, he's too busy campaigning in Colorado to be bothered.

Today, on 9/13/2012, America badly needs a President and Commander in Chief. But alas, all we apparently have is a partisan money-raiser and perpetual job-seeker.

  1. And to think Bush was criticized for reading to children so they wouldn't be scared as 9/11 unfolded.

Campaign fundraising -- now that's the ticket to address attacks on American soil abroad.

  3. I wouldn't be surprised if he took a tour of Coors while he is here in Golden.

  4. Yeah, that's what America needs right now, a strong, decisive C-n-C who shows some sort of emotion (other than apathy) towards the deaths of Americans and assaults on sovereign US soil. The drawback, though, is that there's not really a way to spin that to make it look like he did...anything. And it takes camera time away from himself. November can't get here fast enough.

  5. Well, see, those SEAL kinda people, you know, they're only useful if they're doing something that you can take credit for, to try to protect your flanks, like killing bin Laden, during the campaign season.

Mr. Doherty, unfortunately, doesn't have any PR value for the 'Re-elect the Chair Campaign'.

I'm going to take issue with the idea of everyone feeling 'remorse' or 'anger' over this guy. He served his country, he then went into security, and don't try to tell me he didn't know the risks of doing what he was doing in Libya. He got killed doing something he loved, and he died honorably.

Sorrow? Regrets? Touchy-feely? Fuck all that and fuck it hard: he knew what he was doing, and I feel no regrets or sorrow about his death at all. None.

I honor him, and if that's what you were trying to communicate, then fine; but I have no sorrow about his death, or any of those deaths, whatsoever. They were big kids who knew the risks.

They all paid their money and took their chances. They played the 'game' and lost. It's the nature of it.

Politically, I'm unsure about either 'candidate'; but I'm not wasting eye moisture over a MAN who went into a situation knowing what he was doing (I hoist my beer).

  10. The embassy attacks are awful. The govt trying to say it is all a reaction to a YouTube video is just pouring salt in the wound.
