Police interrupt robbery attempt, kill robber. Momma now upset.

Who says that there's never a cop around when you need one? In Orlando, they showed up as two armed robbers were chasing their intended victim and shooting at him. Predictably, they shot one of the robbers and made society a better place for everyone else.

Teen shot, killed by Orlando police identified; 2nd culprit on loose
Gunmen were shooting at robbery victim, police say

Orlando police shot and killed a suspected robber in a firefight at an apartment complex, and officers continue to search for a second gunman.

Omarri I. Williams, 17, died in the shooting, which happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Camden Apartments off Lake Margaret Drive.

When officers responded to a robbery call at the apartment complex, they witnessed and heard shots being fired at the robbery victim by two gunmen, Orlando police Sgt. Vince Ogburn told Local 6.

Ogburn said officers returned fire, striking and killing Williams. The other culprit is still on the loose.

Williams' mother, Cheryl McCain, told Local 6 the police must have made a mistake and that her son was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"Why do they have to kill my baby if he was in the wrong?" McCain said. "Shoot him in the leg. If you pulled up and saw him shooting at a victim how do you know that the victim wasn't shooting back?

Let's see...in the video, she admits that her son liked to use drugs and carried a gun, but she didn't believe that he'd ever point his gun at the police, and even if he did, the police shout have just shot him in the leg because the guy that he and his thug pal were chasing and trying to kill might have been trying to defend himself.

Just..wow.

  1. Watched a film clip of a court hearing once. Thug perp turned around in the middle and just decked his lawyer - total sucker punch dropped the poor guy. Said thug was of course then set on by every bailiff and cop in room. And thug's mom is screaming "Why they doing that to my baby?!" the whole time.

  2. At least she didn't insist they had to shoot the gun out of his hand.

Denial and toleration of her offspring's criminal faults sure didn't help him avoid the outcome of his criminal behavior.

Expect pics of him at age 12 and how he was such a good boy....

    Sheesh.

We had a similar occurrence some years back here locally.
Two misguided yutes robbing liquor store...
Gun toter enters, sees the armed robbery in progress and shoots them both
    DRT
    Police commend citizen.
Family protests outside store as this was 'racially motivated'.

I didn't know armed robbers were a race?

  5. "If you pulled up and saw him shooting at a victim..." Clearly, she knows exactly what he's been up to, as there wasn't the slightest doubt in her mind who was the victim here.

Once she realizes that won't work, how many milliseconds before she's screaming the cops are "racist"?

  6. We can only hope that the mom in this case is a convicted felon and thus has lost her right to vote.

  8. Because...ya know...shooting someone in the leg automatically makes that evil gun thingy in his HAND stop working, and will cause 'Lil Precious to find religion and instantly revert back to the angel he was just 7 minutes ago.

    :snort:

    Right.

This is the kind of thing that makes anyone in authority dealing with these folks insane: 'He didn't do nothing', or 'I didn't do nothing'. In the schools I worked in it was endemic and cultural. 'Kids' (from 6 to 23) would reflexively, without thinking, protest, "But I didn't do nothing!" when called on behavior clearly visible to anyone. The immediate response was to deny everything, all evidence to the contrary. The mothers were the worst: "My boy didn't do nothing!" despite any and all evidence to the contrary, including digital video of their son clearly doing whatever it was.

I eventually came to the conclusion it was a complex, psychological, reactive response to blame of any kind: there is no relation of that specific act to being blamed for it.

In other words, whatever that family member did at that point to get arrested is not related, in the mind of the family, to the actual act. It's simply a form of 'blame' unrelated to his actual, specific act.

I treated everyone I dealt with as not really in control of themselves, and fundamentally mentally ill. It was easier that way.

  11. Shoot him in the leg, shoot the gun out of his hand, shoot his pants off...

Geeze this is lone ranger stuff.

And the hit rate for cops is BELOW 25 percent even when counting any kind of hit! So yea, sure.

The 'mama' lives in a culture of drugs, gangs, booze, welfare, etc... and thus no matter what her 'baby' did, it was someone else's fault cause they don't take responsibility for their own actions.

Welfare, as started by LBJ and his 'Great Society', has been the worst plague put upon our country and destroyed millions of lives.

And as for the 17 year old, you shoot at cops (or ME) and you will get shot, and shot alot.

I've been in urban gunfights and my 'hit rate' was, as far as I know, below 10%. Well below. In fact, after statute limitations, the only people I know I hit were the people I took my time on. One was with a .22 Short, the other was with a .38 Winchester 110 grain Silvertip, and they both ran like rabbits after getting hit. They didn't go down.

Six feet? People moving around? It's ridiculous. I missed a guy at less than 6 feet once; I yanked the trigger on my S&W Model 36 with a Barami Hipgrip so hard in stress the bullet likely went over his head. 'High and to the right'.

I HATE people who say things like, "I would have..." well, you just don't know.
