Larry Nevers, a great cop who got screwed, dies at 72.

Former Detroit Police Officer Larry Nevers has died.

I knew Larry. I knew most of the police and EMS principals in the sordid Malice Green case, including the liar, Lee Hardy. I know what went down that night and the facts bore little resemblance to the way it was spun by then-mayor Coleman Young, his lickspittle police chief Stanley Knox, and a corrupt prosecutor named Kym Worthy who turned a blind eye to overt jury tampering by the local NAACP activists. Larry was a good man and a great cop and I proudly worked with his defense team back in the day.

Rest in peace, my friend.

  3. I remember this when it happened. We discussed it at briefing training. I recall that the main idea I and most of the rest of the guys took away was watch your ass because if an ambitious prosecutor gets the idea that admin is going to hang yours out to dry you're gonna have damn few friends. So sad to see he passed without getting his name back because that is the greatest injustice of all. At least his name remains clear among those who count.
