Remedy

Because I've been neglecting my buddy Murphy lately, I fixed it by taking him to the dog park today and throwing the ball for him for a while.

Here he is being all happy, waiting for me to throw the ball. Doesn't he look spiffy in his Petco seatbelt harness, which I didn't bother to take off of him?

Here he is still waiting, just before he got impatient and jumped up to put his muddy paws on my nice formerly-clean khakis.

He fetched the ball maybe two dozen times, each one being about a 50-yard run each way as I was throwing it with one of those flexible ball-whipping tools. Add it up: 100yards x 24 = lots of running and a dog who is going to sleep well tonight.

"Made it, Ma! Top of the world!"

And for the record, I still did this nice thing for him AFTER he chewed up my brand new Chris Kyle book the other day, removing it from the couch and wrecking it before I even had a chance to crack it open. First time he's ever chewed up a book, and he had to ignore a Bill O'Reilly book sitting right next to it(It was a gift, I swear!) and pick that one. Stupid dog. Can't fathom why I like him so much, but I do.

  3. I just don't know how to get him to calm down and stop chewing/eating stuff...

  4. Disposable book cover liberally coated in Tobasco. That'll stop the book thing. Or at least protect the one book.

  5. He looks hyper and happy. Eating books? Not cool.

  6. Even with the harness, if they stretch out REALLY far forward, they can grab that turkey provolone sandwich off the truck console. :-)

He looks like a happy dog, you've done very well with him.

  7. He is happy, but the book bit...Out of character even for him. He's never touched a book before and about half of my library is at a height where he can reach it. Just odd.

  8. It is worth the read, you need to replace it. I feel your pain. Our puppy can now reach things on the 6 ft high shelf without jumping. At least she is not terribly destructive. We do find the laser pointer provides good excercise in teh evenings outside.

  9. Perhaps he chewed up the Chris Kyle book and left the O'Reilly book alone, so that he could take a nice, hefty dump on the latter later in the day.

    Smart dog!

  10. Usually once their fully grown, about two years, they stop eating the whole house. Of course I have no idea how old your pup is.
