From the bedroom gun safe. What do the three of these wonderful self defense tools have in common?
Yep. All have lights on them. The AR-15 and the Remington 870 have Surefire lights, and the Gock 21 sports an Insight M3X. All of them will turn night into day inside the lair and the Surefires on the long guns will illuminate swathes of the outdoors clean to the property perimeter if need be.
A lot of people that I know keep firearms near the bed for defense at night, but many of them don't use lights like this. I've never understood that. It's dark almost 50% of the time, right? Why cede that darkness to the bad guys or risk mis-identifying someone that you're fond of when lights like there can be obtained new or used relatively cheaply? Just remember that it's not a flashlight for looking around and train accordingly.
Once you're accustomed to these, you'll wonder how you ever got by without one.
Or you could just aim at the spot a couple feet above where Murphy has firmly implanted his teeth. . .
ReplyDeleteI would NOT want to break into your house, unless bringing in cookies and french maid backup.
Brigid: I'm thinking that if you were to break in, we could dispense with the shooting and the biting...especially if you bring those cookies. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI've got two out of three, does that count??? :-)
ReplyDelete@ Old NFO: even one's better than none.
ReplyDeleteDude. I feel like Rodney Dangerfield. I get no respect out here. I put a CT light on the plastic bullet hose some time ago. For everything else I have a Surefire E2DS light.
ReplyDeleteNow B. with a French maid uniform? I would pay real money to see that!
