Saturday Man Movie

In Sabata (1969), we see how charismatic gunman Banjo plays for five men who come to kill him.

  1. Definitely cheesy. Can't believe Lee Van Cleef allowed himself in this bomb.

  3. @ Dick: He did it twice. There was a trilogy of Sabata movies, and Van Cleef played Sabata in the first (shown here) and the third.

Yul Brenner played Sabata in the seond, because Van Cleef was already committed to starring in The Magnificent Seven Rides Again, ironically playing the part of Chris Adams, the role that Brenner played in the original Magnificent Seven movie.

In the end, it doesn't really matter what Lee Van Cleef starred in; he was cool no matter how cheesy the flick.

  4. Makes all them Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns look like Academy award nominees!

Yea, Lee Van Cleef certaily didn't help his career out by acting in this dud.

But then again: a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!
