Saturday Man Movie

In the fairly forgettable but still fun 1979 movie Search and Destroy, an old enemy from his days in Vietnam kills a Special Ops vet's friends and kidnaps his girlfriend. Naturally, this makes that vet, played by Perry King, very angry.
This leads to a war in downtown Niagara Falls, a war that police detective George Kennedy trys--and fails--to head off.

And the fight continues at first light:

  1. The Internet Movie Database says George Kennedy is still with us, I did not know he was a WWII vet.

A couple of thoughts, the mess deck movies featured a huge proportion of man movies. And if you were the projectionist, you got paid one dollar for showing the movie. Yes an actual movie on 16mm film.

I kinda remember seeing Kennedy in The 'Human Factor', that film would fit into the man movies genre. And if I remember right, in the Sons of Katie Elder, Kennedy gets hit in the face with a pick handle. I remember thinking, that should have killed him. Even then the willing suspension of disbelief only stretched so far.

Off to do more on a closet door conversion to french doors for my sibling, the total tools stashed on the job including today might, and I stress might, fit into a CONEX box.

  2. I remembered that movie on HBO in the early 80's and I liked it. I have a VHS copy running around that came out of a movie rental place.
