Dog Park!

So because it was nice out, I took Murphy and Belle to the dog park along with John, owner of Maggie, and Eric, owner of Clifford. John and Eric both attend my church and Maggie and Clifford came from the same animal shelter as did Belle. In fact, Maggie and Belle were cellmates for a while. Now they're just fun-loving, spoiled dogs in good homes.

Off they go!

Cifford's a mellow little fellow.

And here's Maggie taunting Belle.
Next, Maggie started to screw with with Murphy, but Belle decided that was not going to happen.

Nobody messes with Murphy except her.
No biting--just tumbling.

At one point, Clifford started feeling his oats too, and Belle shut him down pretty much the same way, using the minimum coercion necessary. The four dogs got on great with each other, but Belle made sure that everyone knew their place.

And then John brought out the treat bag, and had the dogs' undivided attention.

Best attempt at a group shot. (Just try to get four dogs to stand still and pose while waiting for a digital camera to grab the shot.)

It was a nice time out, even if there was a layer of ice on the ground that retarded the dogs' ability to really run full out. They still had fun and got wore out.

Shelter dogs make great pets, folks. Get one today. You'll save a life and improve the quality of your own.

  1. Belle's filled out and is a lovely dog now. I'm glad we can't see her ribs any more in the photos.

  2. Couldn't agree more, 4 dogs, 3 are rescues. (and NO, not by design. Wife can't say no, and I can't say no to her)

  3. Wolfgang loves the dog park, and I've gotten in with quite a good set of regulars there.

  4. I miss taking Ranger there - but he plays very vocally and the liberal Austinites felt he was far too aggressive. Only one guy understood the wookie howling was all play...

    How's the leg holding up?

  5. looks like they had fun!

next dog will PROBABLY be a rescue. we have a GREAT dobe rescue in Maryland/Virginia, too. if we don't find one that fits our family, though, we'll end up taking one of the pups from Rip's litter when her breeder decides she's ready for it. should be in a couple of years if everything goes well.

one of these days i'm going to check out the local dog park with Rip. she loves the hell out of other dogs. just gotta work around her heat cycle. afraid to go right now since she just hit 7 months and could go into heat any time now.

    1. Good News! I have to go and figure out how to get this .45ACP ammo off of the coffee table and into the gun room. Should be interesting!

  8. Kneads, might I suggest a UPS truck? I could even send in a call tag, just to be helpful.
