Snow update

Still coming. 18" and climbing, but it's above freezing now so we're getting light rain which will freeze in a few hours. Two locals came by and offered to shovel my driveway for fifty bucks. I countered with an offer of forty bucks and two bottles of beer AND me helping as best I could and a deal was struck. I have a long, steep driveway and that light rain is making the light fluffy snow into heavy wet snow real fast.

Now I'm back in the house having a nice hot tea with just a hint or bourbon...or maybe it's a bourbon with just a hint of tea. Whichever--it's tasty. I'm happy.

    1. Damn straight. That's why I salted after the shoveling and went back out and scraped it all down to the pavement half an hour ago. I don't need any residue sticking around once it goes frozen again tonight.

  3. Long time ago in a ice storm here in Texas, entering Nacogdoches, I noticed everyone else just crawling along. I thought that strange till my car turned sideways on the road and went about 100 yards into the suicide lane and stopped.

THEN I proceeded slowly, just as they were.

No point on driving unless you just have to. And then, if you really decide to go, go with the idea your car will be lost. That makes you think before you drive.

    1. Nah, if I was running zero-defect, I'd have done the driveway myself. I can get my leg on for short bits in a half-ass sort of way--enough to get around the house or go to the store. But it's a ways from being good to go yet.

Give me a clear flying day though and we'll see how it works on a rudder pedal.

  6. Mmmm.... hot tea with bourbon. Big squeeze of lemon and honey in it. Unbeatable for a warmup after playing in the snow.
