Oh, that was definitely one of those "Hey y'all...watch this!" take-offs. And then I skirted the storm front for over 200 miles, close enough to see the rain out my right side windows while every ATC controller in the free world kept trying to divert my into it, all while bucking headwinds that added an hour and a half to my flight and actually forced me to land for more fuel enroute. But I got back 45 minutes ahead of the rain and clouds on the deck, so it's all good.
