Was That a Pig I Saw Flying By?

It must have been, because I'd always thought that pigs would fly before Washington, DC issued a mere citizen a permit to carry a concealed firearm.

Washington DC issues first concealed carry permits.

It sounds like it's still an onerous process, with applicants having to overcome some showing of need and jump through some tight hoops, but it's still a lot better than it was before and the foot is in the door. And with DC now allowing some form of permitting, that removes the last jurisdiction in America that categorically denied everyone that right.

Score: Freedom-loving Americans 50; Anti-gun Democrats 0.

  1. Yep, heard ice cracking somewhere down there...

One more step toward freedom in DC

  3. Hmmm. Should it make us suspicious? LOL

  4. That really is a step in the right direction. But, you know that they are not doing it for the public's good. They are probably doing it due to some hidden agenda that they want to achieve as everything else they try to take credit for.

But, like you said, it is a foot in the door. Although, the idea of having to prove "showing of need" is a little disconcerting. Really, so you are going to tell ME what my life is worth and whether that constitutes "need" according to YOUR definition. Typical. And this would be the same people who decide what constitutes "need" when they are handing out my tax dollars to welfare recipients who are perfectly capable of getting off their duffs and getting a job.

I hope it all turns out for the good though. And then my future optimistic dream is that every single state has the same reciprocity rules and being responsible for my own safety will be a simpler process regardless of where I travel.
