Another Dumb Idea Brought To You By Obama And Co.

Can even this administration be that obtuse?

Don't answer that...

What the West really needs to take on the Islamic State is ... a jobs program.

That's what a top State Department spokeswoman suggested when asked in a TV interview Monday night about what the U.S.-led coalition is doing to stop the slaughter of civilians by Islamic State militants across the region.

"We're killing a lot of them, and we're going to keep killing more of them. ... But we cannot win this war by killing them," department spokeswoman Marie Harf said on MSNBC's "Hardball." "We need ... to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it's lack of opportunity for jobs, whether --"

At that point, Harf was interrupted by host Chris Matthews, who pointed out, "There's always going to be poor people. There's always going to be poor Muslims."

Harf continued to argue that the U.S. should work with other countries to "help improve their governance" and "help them build their economies so they can have job opportunities for these people."

State Department spokeswoman floats jobs as answer to ISIS

So Obama and his brain trust think that all ISIS terrorists need to make them want to give up murdering people for Mohammed is a menial-labor job of some sort. Yeah, that'll do it. I mean, what's 72 virgins compared to bringing home 25 drachmas every two weeks, eh?

But I think that we should give this one a try. And since Obama came up with the idea, I think that the first radical islamists that apply to the program should be hired to work in the White House kitchen. If they're good enough to have jobs, why not let them cook for and serve Barack and Michelle? Maybe we can even find a few more "reformed" terrorists to work in the Biden, Ried and Pelosi residences. GS-4 wages ought to be more than fine to get them to give up killing for Allah, right?

What could possibly go wrong?

  1. How can jihadists possibly feed, clothe and house 72 virgins on a minimum wage job?

I think that's what the President's mouthpieces were really asking.

  2. Obviously. America saw a lot of beheading, rapes, torture, etc. during the Great Depression.

I would not be surprised if Obama offered them welfare and food stamps and a Obamaphone

  5. This administration is like a bad Dan Aykroyd info-mercial: "You're probably wondering how the White House can afford to give you these bad ideas...but wait, just for watching this train wreck, we'll throw in a SECOND calamity - you don't have to do a thing! And if you're still undecided, just sit there in your Barcalounger with your remote control and Obama-phone - we'll keep the bad ideas coming...with AT LEAST one crisis a month for the next 24 months - GUARANTEED! No need to call now - we'll do everything we need to...by Executive Order!"

  6. The willful blindness of this administration and its inability to face reality is getting both ludicrous and pretty tiresome.

Well, Lagniappe, you skipped over a key point in Marie Harf's jobs-for-jihadis statement: "What makes these 17 year old kids pick up an AK-47 instead of trying to start a business, maybe we can try to chip away at this problem ..."

Harf absolutely did NOT propose menial-labor jobs, as you characterized them. She jumped straight to the pinnacle of capitalist achievement: entrepreneurs starting new businesses that grow an economy and provide good jobs for millions. She expressed the utmost faith in unbridled capitalism, don't you think? So much so that she singled out inexperienced and uneducated teenagers as being able to lead the way.

Why, here in America we can see that, under the benevolent guidance of Big Government, a burgeoning number of teenaged entrepreneurs has virtually wiped out crime and poverty in Detroit, Chicago, and other former failed cities all over America. Government relieved the regulatory burden imposed on business, lowered corporate tax rates, repealed obamacare's employer mandates, and more -- and for the first time in American history, more small businesses are being started than are closing.

Obama's stellar record for creating a climate that encourages entrepreneurs should alleviate all doubt that our current government can work job magic in any hellhole country on earth.

Now if that doesn't restore your faith in Marie Harf and her fellow totalitarians, I don't know what will.
