Back in 1914, 25,000 Steyr rifles were smuggled into Northern Ireland aboard the steamer Clyde Valley as part of the Larne gun-running action to be used by the Ulster Volunteer Force in the fight for independence.
10 of them were just discovered, still hidden away and ready to go, 102 years later.

Sadly, even though they were obsolete rifles firing an out-of-production cartridge, the police "deactivated" them before returning them to the Orange Hall.
Why can't I ever find anything that cool? Maybe I need to take a close look at the walls in my new house when I get there in a couple of weeks.
The Irish, like most of Western Europe, are so busy making their 'subjects' ignorant of weapons, so busy disarming them, that when the Muslims finally riot and try to take their civilization down, the Europeans will be SOL... sorry, out of luck. And I have no intention of sending any of MY guns over there, like we did in WW2, to help them.

ReplyDeleteThose guys must be the most incurious bastards who ever lived. They have some sort of organization that has a room with at least one cupboard in it, the cupboard has 10 antigue rifles and a bunch of antique ammunition in it, and it hasn't been opened in "decades". WTF?!?!?
