New Year's Resolution FAIL

Seattle's Miles Murphy, 22 years old, stated on his list of resolutions that his goal for 2009 was "don't die". But according to the story in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, he blew that one less than an hour and a half into the new year, however, when he met police officers investigating a "shots fired" call with a rifle in his hands and refused their orders to drop it. When he instead pointed the rifle at the officers, they shot him.
According to police, officers were called to the 5200 block of 17th Avenue Northeast to investigate a report of two or three men firing weapons into the air. Officers say they fired on the man after he brandished what a witness described as a bolt-action rifle.

Kerlikowske offered more detail Friday. He said the four officers who responded were approaching Murphy's basement apartment when the young man came out of it. He was carrying the rifle, and it was pointed in the officers' direction.

They order him to drop it. He lowered the rifle, but as he climbed up the steps he raised the rifle, which was affixed with a bayonet, again in their direction.

Officers again order him to drop it, then two officers fired seven shots at him with their AR-15 rifles.
Darwin, table for one.

Making it even more surreal, Miles was dressed in a Nazi uniform--apparently something that he liked to wear for no real reason. The rifle was a vintage German Mauser, which, according to the news story, had been taken away from him by the police two years ago for unknown reasons. It was returned to him a couple of months later due to pressure from Miles' dad.

Good job there, dad. You really thought that one out, didn't you.

And at this time it appears that the shots that the police had been called to investigate were fired by Miles from that rifle because he wanted to make noise on New Years Eve. It apparently had blanks in it, but the police officers could not know that or assume such. They did what they had to do when Miles Murphy pointed the rifle at them. Now the kid is gone, and as the comments following the news story indicate, the predictable anti-police backlash from Seattle's loser community has begun.

My condolences go out to the police officers that were forced to go through this traumatic episode because a stupid kid didn't have the common sense that God gave a goose.

What some freaks won't do for attention

and the freak I mean is Sirbrina Guerrero, an attention whore of the first order who ran to the media to complain that an usher at Seattle mariners' Safeco Field asked her to stop kissing another girl. And as expected, the stories of both sides differ.
As the Mariners played the Boston Red Sox on May 26, Sirbrina Guerrero and her date were approached in the third inning by an usher who told them their kissing was inappropriate, Guerrero said.

The usher, Guerrero said, told them he had received a complaint from a woman nearby who said that there were kids in the crowd of nearly 36,000 and that parents would have to explain why two women were kissing.

"I was really just shocked," Guerrero said. "Seattle is so gay-friendly. There was a couple like seven rows ahead making out. We were just showing affection."

On Monday, Mariners spokeswoman Rebecca Hale said that the club is investigating but that the usher was responding to a complaint of two women "making out" and "groping" in the stands.

"We have a strict non-discrimination policy at the Seattle Mariners and at Safeco Field, and when we do enforce the code of conduct it is based on behavior, not on the identity of those involved," Hale said.

The code of conduct — announced before each game — specifically mentions public displays of affection that are "not appropriate in a public, family setting." Hale said those standards are based on what a "reasonable person" would find inappropriate.

Guerrero denied she and her date were groping each other, saying that along with eating garlic fries, they were giving each other brief kisses.

On Tuesday, Guerrero said a Mariners director of guest services had apologized to her. The team spokeswoman could not immediately confirm that.

Now to be honest, I really don't care if one girl wants to kiss another (so long as both are hot), but the "bullshit" factor here is off the charts, especially when Guerrero complains that this makes her look bad.
Since the incident, Guerrero's job and her past have come under scrutiny. She works at a bar known for scantily clad women and was a contestant on the MTV reality show "A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila," in which women and men compete for the affection of a bisexual Internet celebrity.

"People are saying it's 15 more minutes for my career," Guerrero said of the ballpark furor, "but this is not making me look very good."
Hang on now, Sirbrina. You just spent several weeks on some TV show totally degrading yourself to get some sex-crazed freak to pick you out of a bunch of other sex-crazed freaks, and you participated in all sorts of stupid stunts and assorted drama, and THIS makes you look bad? And exactly who called up the TV stations and newspapers and publicized all of this? It sure wasn't the Mariners, so that kind of narrows it down, doesn't it?

I guess this is the latest example of what happens when people have no life and no shame but are blessed with a decent bod. Rather than go to school and make something of her pathetic train-wreck of a life, this sad creature runs to baseball stadiums and fabricates controversy designed to put her back on TV, obviously hoping that some way, some how, she can turn a buck off of this mess...the "mess" that's supposedly "making her look bad."

And if the stadium or team did apologize, I'm disappointed in them. What they should have done was stick by their guns and bar this publicity hound from the stadium.
