In Red Sun (1971), Double-crossed train robber Link, played by Charles Bronson is forced into partnership with Samurai Kuroda, played by Toshiro Mifune. And they really don't get along for a while so Link tries to ditch Kuroda, with less than stellar results.


It's a fun movie, and the collaboration here is notable in that Mifune was well known for his role in The Seven Samurai while Bronson is equally known for his role in The Magnificent Seven, an American adaptation of that movie. Both are classics.

Also stars Ursula Andress and Alain Delon. Definitely worth watching.

Charles Bronson is on a train with an all-star cast in Breakheart Pass (1975).
People are dying, but no one knows why, or who is doing it. Can Bronson figure it out after he finishes fighting with Archie Moore on the roof of that train? (And BTW, that fight scene was filmed atop a real moving train. No CGI there.)
Also in this movie: Richard Crenna, David Huddleston, Charles Durning, Ed Lauter (a pal of Bronson, they starred in several movies together), Jill Ireland, Robert Tessier, and Ben Johnson.

And if you like steam trains, you really need to see this one. Truly a great movie, made back when movies were worth seeing.

In the 1980 cult martial arts classic "The Octagon", martial artist Scott James, played by Chuck Norris, takes on a whole training camp full of ninja terrorists.

Lee Van Cleef has a bit part in this one, too.

In 1980's The Final Countdown, we have the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) transported back in time to December 7th, 1941. She has a full complement of strike aircraft and enough firepower to change the course of history. She what does the Captain do?

This one stars real World War Two vets Kirk Douglas and Charles Durning (as well as a rather forgettable Martin Sheen). And F-14 Tomcats. It stars lots of F-14 Tomcats. They even mix it up with Japanese Zeroes in some of the coolest movie footage you'll find. Much of it was actually filmed on board the real Nimitz, including a real emergency landing of an A-7 Corsair II that the film crew just happened to be in place to catch, and which they worked into the movie.

In the 1962 movie The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, tenderfoot lawyer Ransome Stoddard, played by James Stewart, runs afoul of the local desperado bully, Liberty Valance played by Lee Marvin. Determined to stick it out, he eventually buys a gun to protect himself but has no idea how to use it. Here, gunfighter Tom Donophon played by John Wayne offers him a bit of instruction.



It's a great movie with an all-star cast. Valance's two henchmen are played by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Van_Cleef and Strother Martin. Donophon's right hand man was played by Woody Strode, a then-famous athlete-turned-actor. Other stars of the day such as Andy Devine, Edmund O'Brien, John Carradine and Denver Pyle can be seen in this one, too, along with a then-hot Vera Miles as the lady that Donophon pursued but Stoddard won.

And here's the epic gunfight from the showdown between Stoddard and Valance.



I won't spoil a great movie by giving too much away, but if you haven't seen it, you need to.

In The Dogs of War (1981) A mining company hires mercenary Jamie Shannon (played by Christopher Walken) to overthrow the corrupt regime in Zangaro and replace the president with their own corrupt man, Colonel Bobi. They pay him good money but also plan to double-cross him when it's over.

Turnabout's fair play, I guess.

Walken made this movie, but the original book by Frederick Forsyth that this was (very loosely) based on was much better.
