Saturday Man Movie

Since John Wayne was brought up by a reader yesterday, we'll feature the final gunfight from The Shootist, John Wayne's last film.

Here, legendary gunfighter J.B. Books, dying of cancer and seeing the writing on the wall for the the end of the frontier lifestyle, invites the last three men who want to kill him to meet him in the bar.

Gotta watch out for those sneaky back-shooting bartenders; they'll get you every time. It's a good thing that Richie Cunningham just happened to be in the neighborhood.

  1. I truly loved that movie. Did you and Not-Dammit share some popcorn while you were posting it?

(My in-laws had several part-bobcats, all named Damn Cat.)

  2. I saw this movie in a small local theater with my grandfather.

To this day it is still my most favorite John Wayne movie

  3. Just don't ever make the mistake of reading the book by Glendon Swarthout that the movie is based on. It's a piece of crap.

  4. Opie needs some lessons on the proper care and handling of a SAA.

  5. He should have reloaded immediately and then done a 360 threat assessment. Throwing away his weapon was a bad idea.
