Almost back to square one again.

So I've been letting Murphy have his cone off when he's with me or where I can watch him. He's only got a week to go and he's been doing well.

But this morning, I left him out on the deck with a new bone and no cone, only to check on him a few minutes later and catch him red-handed (red-pawed?) going at his stitches with his teeth.

Now he's enconed again, and he's sad. If the picture had audio, you'd hear him whining.
Murphy, I like you a lot, but if you rip those stitches out again, I will shoot you. Just FYI.

  1. That dreaded cone of shame.

Hopefully he will heal up soon. Poor fella!

Take him out to visit the bench resters, maybe that will keep his mind off the stiches.

  3. Years ago my pit mix Rocky was a wild man. He was stabbed in the ribs by an intruder trying to break into our home.
So he goes to the vet, and the vet uses staples to repair the wound. Once Rocky came home he wiggled out of the cone of shame, and sat on the rug pulling out the staples and spitting them out at me. The vet had to fashion a bar that went around his waist and attached to his collar. Something like a brace to keep him from reaching his head around to the wound site. Good times-not! Hope you have better luck with ol' Murphy!

  5. Aww, I remember the cone on my lab after his accident. The sad puppy face really made you want to take it off.

    Poor Murphy.
