Imminent departure of fairweather friends

Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney just took first and second place respectively in the Iowa Caucus. It was practically a photo finish, with only a couple dozen votes separating them.

Cue Ron Paul supporters calling us all names then taking their toys and going home in three...two...one...

  1. If Paul does that now, he's shooting himself in the foot.

  2. Ron Paul serves a very important purpose in this election cycle, because every other candidate is a "government" guy to one degree or another, which Paul certainly is not.

He likely won't win, as he comes of as a screechy old goat and he has his head in the sand as far as radical islamists are concerned, but he keeps the others respecting the real conservatives at least a little.

  3. Bingo! Paul has a fanatical following of folks who fancy themselves Libertarians, but really are naive when it comes to the realities of the world and our government.

Bachman is scheduled for a presser later today and will probably announce suspension of her campaign. Look for Perry gone in ten days or less.

  5. @PH: Actually my biggest problem with the Paulites is that they are almost always brand new to the political process, with no track record of working for Republican candidates, yet that are the loudest and the quickest to make demands on the rest of us who have been around for a while. And sure as rain hits the ground, as soon as their messiah gets rejected by the political process, they stalk off back to their dead-end 7-11 clerk job or their parents' basements and refuse to help the GOP nominee beat Obama. They are spoiled brats, immature and unentitled to even a piece of the Republican Party pie despite their demand every four years for the whole pie.
