Saturday Man Movie

A couple of clips from The Omega Man, with Charlton Heston. In the first one, we see him using that Smith and Wesson Model 76
Thanks to Bob at The Drawn Cutlass for the links.

And here's the great man again, last normal man on Earth, having dinner and playing chess with Julius Caesar.

Love the BAR with the night scope.

  1. Fun, fun movie. One of the trio of movies that made Heston a sci-fi hero in the late 60's/early 70's, the other two being Planet of the Apes and Soylent Green.

The Omega Man doesn't have the famous lines that Planet of the Apes does, but there are some sound clips available from the movie. Villain Anthony Zerbe had most of the best lines, however. One of them I use for the sound of my recycle bin in Windows being emptied: "You are discarded. You are the refuse of the past!"

And, of course, Heston is killed in the end of this movie. Heston actually enjoyed movie death, felt it was the most dramatic thing an actor could do.

It's funny to view the movie now with hindsight of Heston's role as president of the NRA and not chuckle, battling mutant hippies...

  3. Do you remember the S&W M-76 used in the Rockford File's Pilot episode? They were shooting at Jim Rockford from a helicopter.
