OK, now that's just dumb.

The headline alone promised a double helping of stupidity when I first saw it.

Man robbed of gun in school parking lot.

Don't these guys know that guns aren't allowed on school property? I think that it's illegal in most states to rob someone, too.

But seriously, this is why I typically don't sell my guns face-to-face, and if I do, it's going to be to someone that I know, or in a secure public place like a gun show.

And whenever I transport my guns I've always got a loaded one handy, just in case.

  1. Yes. The victim in this case committed a felony by trying to sell his gun in a school parking lot. In VA, you have to have your gun in the car.

  4. Selling his gun, and agreed to meet in an elementary school parking lot?
    The stoopid, it burns!

Plus, I know that neighborhood. It's a little to close to the projects to be selling a gun to a stranger on the street.

    Crap, now I'm a racist...

I have never bought a gun in a parking lot, but I did pick one up from a gun show in a parking lot, once. I paid the guy a down payment, then arranged to meet him three days later in the parking lot of a gardening center, where he told me his wife sold potted plants she grew as a side business. He opened the trunk of his suspiciously-official-looking car and when I saw what was in it, I asked him, "Uh...What do you do?"

He told me, quite cheerfully, "Oh, I'm an FBI agent."

    Me: Plotz.

He handed me the Beretta Minx .22 Short auto he'd carried in his sock during the Chicago Greylord thing, and told me, cheerfully, "Well, use it safely!"

True story. I can't make that shit up. I still have it. Size of a pack of cigarettes.
