It's finally here.
The new leg is here. Finished and ready for final adjustment. For the first time since Mid-December, I'll be able to walk normally and do regular stuff again, like bike-riding, hiking, dog-kicking, etc.
Following December's minor surgery, my reliable regular legs no longer fit. The downside of sitting around for months without a leg is that you can't help but lose muscle tone and put on a bit of weight, and it doesn't take much before a custom-sized leg no longer fits. This new one was made so that I can start working out again and hopefully in short order, I'll be able to get back into all three old ones--walking, running and swimming legs. For now though, I just have this one for walking.
I can already tell that there's going to be an adjustment period, but so far it feels good. And now that I'm able to start walking around again, I thought that it was only fitting to take my pals out for a turn around town.
I haven't walked them together since early December, and even then not much. They didn't really like each other back then as Belle was still new, but as you can see now, they're buds and they work together like a matched pair of pack animals should.
"We looks both ways at the corners!"
"Restaurant smells good. We go in here!"
"NO!"
"Dammit."
We could have done this all day long. You can't know how good it feels just to walk along on a sunny day unless you've been unable to walk for four months.
And to cap things off, I got home and found a letter from those nice people at BATFE. I'm officially good to go on my latest SBR (Short-Barreled Rifle) project. Not that I'm keen about asking permission or writing a $200 check for the privilege or anything, but I've been waiting on this since October, and if I got this one, another expected NFA goodie can't be far behind.
Great news! Good day for a test drive too it looks like.
