To the owner of a orange striped cat.

I saw your cat this afternoon.

I watched it try to cross the road in Charles Town, right by the casino. It almost made it across, too. To be fair, the cat just darted out and the driver that hit it had no real chance to miss it. That driver didn't stop, but I did, turning around to see if, by some miracle, the cat might be saved.

Your cat looked clean and well-fed, probably one that was used to people and being inside. It was still alive when I picked it up, hoping that a fast trip to the vet might not be in vain. But it wasn't to be; your cat died in my arms, there by the side of the road. I doubt that you will read this here, but if you do, know that your cat didn't suffer long, and that your cat did not die alone. I was with your cat, comforting it during it's last moments, and if it could have been saved it would have been. And I'm sorry for your loss,

Now how about the next one you get, you just keep it indoors, ok?

  6. One of our neighbors lets (let) their cats (cat) outside and the coyotes got one. Sigh. Not real smart. Ours stays inside so we can take care of him.

  9. Not many today would have tried to help. People suck, for the most part, but there are still a few decent souls out there.

  12. Thanks for trying. Were he mine I'd appreciate it.

I've got someone in my neighborhood who gets a new cat every few months. Because their old one disappeared after a few months......I haven't figured out which house it is yet, but I will attempt to keep the discussion polite when I figure it out......

  13. Hey Murphy,

Dang decent thing you tried to do. It shows character, a feature that a lot of people in this day and age totally lack. Bravo

  14. Awfully nice of you Murph. That brought a tear to my eye.

As you know I'm a cat guy, ours stay indoors and always will. Too many bad things can happen "out there."

What you did for that orange tabby makes you a saint in my book.

Of course, I always had you figured for a pretty decent soul!
