Appalachian Trail with my dog pals

It was so nice out yesterday that I just had to grab up the hounds and take them for a short hike along a section of the Appalachian Trail that runs right by here.
This section runs along the ridge of the Blue Ridge on the border between Virginia and West Virginia. The views and the fall colors were great and the temperature was perfect.
These two didn't seem to mind getting out one bit.
We admired the scenery for a bit, and then hiked the trail for a while, staying out as long as we could while still getting back before sunset.
"Doe! A Deer! A Female Deer!"
"Yeah, but we're not allowed to chase it."

"You keep watch for it that way to make sure it doesn't sneak back around on us...I'll watch this way."
"Best. Day. Ever."

Yeah, it was.
