Safe here

The tornadoes that hit New Orleans today missed the dogs and me. Thanks to all of the concerned folks who wrote/called/texted.

It definitely tore some stuff up though, and at least one of my friends here had some major damage done to her house. 28 people were injured at current count.

News reported nearly 200 lightning strikes in the city yesterday, one of which hit the building next to my office. (That was an attention-getter. I was out front on the sidewalk working to get people inside and under cover.) A lot of people are still without power and the National Guard is out on the streets tonight. Me and all my folks at work spent some time out helping too. When bad things happen, you do what you have to to fix it.

Giving thanks to God tonight. It could have been a lot worse.

  2. Glad you and the pups are ok, tornados and lightning strikes are attention getters for sure. As the saying goes "been there, done that". How'd you like that fresh mud smell when they were passing through?

  5. Good to know, I was thinking of you when I watched the Wx Channel earlier. Figured this would be the place to check, for if you were OOC or without power, email'd be futile.

  9. Scared me. Hurricanes, shootings...Like you need tornados.

A gazillion years ago my daughter and I dashed to our rented bench house just as massive storms hit. And discovered that we were locked out. We huddled against the back deck door as a small tornado ripped screening away around us. I don't like tornados. Not at all.
