Great job, Mr. President!

What a great State of the Union address.

President Bush was calm and positive. He spoke well. And he said good things that America needs to hear and see enacted.

I was happy to hear him reaffirm our need for secure borders and reject amnesty for illegals. I also about jumped out of my chair when he said that we need to advance in the area of nuclear energy. Nuke plants are a wonderful solution to our energy situation that we've been denied due to the screaming and hand-wringing of the uninformed leftist bunny-huggers who have acted as modern-day Luddites and stifled our technological advances for too long. The rest of the world is passing us by in this and other fields and it's well past time that we catch up and regain the lead.

His pledge to further cut the budget was great too. It's been too long coming but I'm glad to hear him call for making the tax cuts permanent and demanding the line-item veto. By cutting needless government programs and allowing people and businesses to keep more of our money, we can reduce and even eliminate our deficit and President Bush says that his plans will halve the deficit by 2009. I hope he can do it and I hope that Congress knocks off the pork spending and partisan sabotage and cooperates.

I came away from this speech feeling energized and more confident than ever. And Mr. President, you can count on the support of this American and his German Shepherd dog.
