So the elections are over...

A certain Liberal extremist on a web forum I peruse daily is positively orgasmic over the election results, even though no one knows as of yet which way the Senate is going to go. (Still waiting to hear from Virginia and Montana.) The Liberal crows about what a great day this is for America.

I wouldn't call it a great day for America.

I'll admit that it's definitely a good day for illegal aliens, criminals, radical homosexuals, those who want to see us lose in Iraq, welfare-staters who don't pay much (or anything) in taxes, and other assorted leftist agenda-driven nutbars.

The rest of America will suffer--the taxpayer, the small business owners and their employees, our troops, gun owners, investors, and the average decent people who just want to live without some government official telling them how they must go through life while taking their money. But America has suffered and weathered bad times before, and the average American who is not represented by Democrats will survive. Ideally over the next couple of years, some of those who voted Dem "to change the war" or "to save Michael J. Fox", and those who stayed home and did not vote will realize what they have done to themselves and the rest of us and feel guilty enough to vote correctly the next time around after seeing what damage this particular petty, divisive and out-of-touch majority does to our nation.

One good thing though is that while the majority has shifted, it did so by bringing in a number of Democrats who are ideologically much more conservative than the norm. American voters still want conservative values and they sent some pretty conservative Dems to Congress. This will put a check the far-left leadership and may set the stage for some interesting intra-party factional fights among the Dems. Time will tell.

Now I'm willing to give Nancy Pelosi the benefit of the doubt and wait to see if she can rise to the level of maturity that is expected of someone serving as Speaker of the House. I have my doubts, but I'm willing to give her the chance to put her far-left moonbattery aside and govern with the concerns of all of America in mind instead of just her flaky Californicator fringe base. If she manages to do that, she'll have my support and respect.

But as to the election in general, the Dems did not win by presenting America with any vision, plan or hope for the future. They won by engaging in years of daily negativism directed towards the Bush Administration and our troops. I suspect that they caused enough people to become so disgusted that many average Americans just sat the vote out while the moonbats and special interests flocked to the polls in droves. But the Dems offered and promised America nothing and I suspect that nothing is exactly what we'll see for the next two years at least.
The Dems and their special interest supports lusted for power over their fellow citizens. They appear to have some of what they wanted now. It remains to see if they'll govern wisely and fairly or abuse the hell out of it for personal gain and to extract revenge against those who were popularly elected to oust them from power twelve years ago.
I hope for the former but knowing these Dems the way that I do, I sadly expect the latter.

Break out your checkbooks and hide your guns, America. Higher taxes are and more restrictive laws aimed at controlling us all are coming.
