Another shining example of liberal "tolerance"

The last four days of February saw a change in the format of National Public radio (NPR). Instead of it's usual fare of 100% liberal left-wing fare 24/7, listeners heard a new show being broadcast at 6:30 AM called "Conversations with Conservatives".

This half-hour show featured guests that didn't parrot the typical "America sucks/Republicans are evil" mantra that most of us have come to expect on NPR. Instead, listeners heard speakers like Rev. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission; Grover Norquist, founder of Americans for Tax Reform; talk-radio host Glenn Beck; and David Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union. This was part of NPR's promised attempt to somewhat balance out it's broadcast content, however the feedback from the liberal listeners--the people that always tell us how "tolerant" they are--was scathingly negative. NPR ombudsman Alicia Shepard told The Washington Times the broadcaster received more than 60 angry e-mails and phone calls -- one calling the programming a "lovefest with radical, right-wing nuts."

So much for that tolerance, eh? I guess that they forgot that it's called National PUBLIC radio and that it's not supposed to be the proprietary broadcast outlet for Moveon.Org and other America-haters like George Soros.

Of course we can expect them to complain that there are so many right-wing broadcasters on the commercial airwaves already--popular hosts like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingram, Tammy Bruce, Mark Levin and a host of others. Liberals have long complained that they can't compete and their attempts to do so with networks like the failed Air America demonstrate that the public just doesn't want to hear their pessimistic negativism. People want to feel good about America and conservative hosts give them reasons to do that every day. That's the difference between us and the libs and it's why we see them trying to get Congress to shut down conservative talk shows or force broadcasters to give them equal time, advertisers and audience be damned.

Sorry libs, but no one wants what you're selling. If you want advertisers and a market share of the talk radio market, you need to start supporting our troops and our country and giving the listeners something positive for a change. And when I say "positive" I don't mean glowing stories about Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, or the contributions of illegal aliens. Drop that crap and try some patriotism and you might be amazed at how quickly you start to attract the average American listener.
