And it is.
Happy Birthday to my canine buddy.
7 years old now. It seems like it was only yesterday that I was taking in this ex-police dog that nobody else wanted. I remember the words of the woman at the kennel: "Don't even pay me for him. Just take him. And if it doesn't work out, just bring him back like everyone else does."
Well we had some issues to work through those first few weeks--this dog would have taxed the patience of Job--but he turned out to be one hell of a good dog. The folks who gave up on him too early missed out.
Happy Birthday, Lagniappe.
Awwww....I am so happy he found you!! :) Isn't it a great happy ending for him to be in a home where he is loved and understood?!?
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Lagniappe.........And many more!!

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Lagniappe!
ReplyDeleteYou are looking good!!
He looks so sweet;)
ReplyDeleteBTW, don't police dogs generally stay with the person who trained them after they retire? Or did poor Lagniappe get the boot:)?
ReplyDeleteOh, man.. happy birthday buddy!
ReplyDeleteMany happy climbs up Maryland Heights for you and your human servant!
Lagniappe got trained but then the agency that purchased him wasn't 100% satisfied with him so he got traded in for another dog. Then he developed some behavioral issues that made it hard for the kennel to re-sell him to another agency or even someone who wanted a dog. But as it turned out, I had plenty of free time and patience so I took him and tried to work with him. It paid off and almost six years later, he's still here.
ReplyDeleteBelated Happy Birthday, Lagniappe!!
ReplyDeleteAren't rescued dogs the greatest?
Habby Birthday a little late.
ReplyDeleteI have been under the weather.
