Did you know that deer like spaghetti?

They do.

I accidentally dumped a whole box of dry spaghetti on the floor, and before I could even pick up a fraction of it, the five-second rule had kicked in. So I swept up the pound or so of spaghetti and just tossed it out on the hill behind the Lair where I typically put the deer corn. Frankly I was curious to see what would happen, and sure enough, when five of my most regular deer came down a short time later, one of the does just munched it all up.

And before Liz or some other animal expert reads this and blows a gasket...I know that I shouldn't give the deer spaghetti. But at least it was the healthy whole wheat spaghetti--uncooked--and without sauce or parmesan cheese.

"Please sir...can I have some more?"

  4. You're such a guy. The five second rule doesn't apply to dry goods. You just blow the dust off of them. And heck the boiling water would have killed any bugs...

BTW, there are different rules of thumb. Two second rule is for healthy food and the fuzzy rule applies to chocolate. As long as it ain't fuzzy, you can eat it;) And if it is fuzzy, penicillin!

  5. I live in a house with a German Shepherd. If it lands on the floor, it generally gets dog hair on it. The spaghetti was no exception. Swept up one, got the other. Threw both out. Damn dog.

  6. I hear ya...dog hair is everywhere at my place, too, since Kira is a Husky. Two shedding seasons...yeah right!! *snort*
Cute pic of the deer! Looks like she wants some more for sure!
