Happy Thanksgiving

I am thankful today.

Thankful that I woke up this morning. None of us are ever guaranteed that.

Thankful for my family...even the relatives who annoy me most of the year.

Thankful for my friends, including many of you readers and posters here, and those who have passed on.

Thankful that I still have a good job, and a roof over my head. The big-government taxers and regulators haven't managed to mess either of these things up for me, yet.

Thankful that I live in a country that is still free enough to allow me to speak out against the policies of and personalities within our out-of-touch, arrogant and inept government.

Thankful that enough of my countrymen felt the same way this past election.

Thankful that Angelina Jolie is in another country on this day. Pity we cannot make her stay there.

Thankful for turkey, and for beer.

May God bless you all as rightly as He has blessed me this year.
So what are YOU thankful for today?

  1. As I'm the "gun-toting weirdo" in the family, some of our out-of-town family visiting this weekend will indulge their presumed dark-side and want to try some hand guns while here. I'll oblige them on Sunday and one or two will decide that maybe "guns" aren't so evil after all, that maybe the evil lies elsewhere.

I'll be an educator. (Thanks, Lord, for the opportunity to help educate others.)

  2. I'm thankful for the best man I ever met and that he decided to marry me (no not you).

I am exceedingly grateful that the idiot in the van did not take Bruce out of my life when the idiot ran the red light on Piney Branch about this time a week a ago.

I am thankful for that new quick overpriced bike that helped Bruce whip to the right and avoid the idiot.

I am grateful that my Mom is not alone on this Thanksgiving and is on her first trip (across the country even) to visit my sister since Dad died.

I am grateful my sister, her spouse, and their 3 hellions are coming to visit Saturday and Sunday.

I am glad I have had the money to stock copious amounts of wine and food for their visit.

I am grateful old John is still able to annoy me with his yowling for a can of wet food in addition to his dry cat food. I am even grateful for pscyo Stella and Claire - although I have yet to teach her to tell what day it is and weekends and holidays are NOT days that I get up at 4:30 a.m. to let her outside.

I am thankful that at least some Democrats had the wherewithall to push back against Nancy Pelosi and her forever quest to screw up the House and this country rather than playing dead when she ran for Minority leader.

I too am grateful that I have a job that I can at least tolerate in spite of the fact those above me worry more about their own political rear ends and not doing what is right.

  4. Enjoy the day, appreciate the meal, ponder your friends and family, recall our grand history and recommit to preservation of the great experiment in government. Screw Angelina Jolie, she's just another incarnation of Fonda and Streisand.

  7. I'm thankful that I have friends that accept me just the way I am, forgive my faults, and support me when I need it, be it covering my back while I'm going in (so to speak)223 or washing the dishes.

    Happy Thanksgiving R.

  8. All of the above. And on this day, the day after Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for having the good sense to avoid Black Friday sales, and for Malcolm Jenkins, whose late 4th quarter interception rallied the Saints for a come-from-behind victory over the Cowpokes.

  9. I'm late posting...sorry. This, the Saturday AFTER Thanksgiving, I have a lot to be thankful for.

First, I'm thankful my husband is retired from the Army after 24 years active duty and two combat tours to Iraq. Being alone on Thanksgiving, several states away from any family (with two little kiddos) made for some lonely holidays during our marriage. I'm so thankful he's home and he's healthy, happy and always wonderful to us.

I'm thankful for my two children. They are smart, kind hearted and all around good little people. I'm so proud to be their Mom...

I'm thankful for my Dad. I'm a Daddy's girl through and through and I thank God daily I have him in my life.

And, I'm thankful for you and my other favorite bloggers. Ya'll make the internet interesting.

On a superficial note, I'm thankful to my FAVORITE college team Auburn for beating Alabama yesterday. Being from the state, you take sides at birth lol. Enduring a year of "Roll Tide, Roll!!" from opposing family members back home would have been crap lol. WAR DAMN EAGLE! :).
