Flash Mobs come to Maryland

This time in Germantown, MD, just outside of Washington, DC. Clearly organized, with no shame or guilt displayed, two to three dozen fools who probably don't have a job between them laugh as they steal from a small business owner who actually does contribute to society.

You have to wonder how many of these fools and their friends would be apt to repeat this act if half a dozen or so of them were just shot as they strutted defiantly out the door with other people's property in their hands. Maybe it's time to look at extreme remedies for crimes of this sort, especially since the police don't appear terribly interested in dealing with this.

  1. And yet, the police still have huge problems with CHL and gun owners in general?

What the hell good is law enforcement in this country anymore?

  2. But if the shop owner defends himself and his property, they police will lock him up....the flash mobs will get worse like they did in wisconsin where everybody that wasn't black got beaten.

  3. Now that people are reminded that relatively small groups can temporarily overwhelm Police resources, they will quickly figure out they don't need cell technology to coordinate. Good old "planning ahead" will work just fine days in advance. And the Police will be just as powerless to stop it.

The only way to stop this is with an armed response. And we should expect things to get worse, much worse, before they get better.

The cat is out of the bag -- This is only just starting.

  4. Well, we saw what was happening in London last week.

My guess is it's coming to these shores - more likely to happen in cities like L.A., NYC, Philly, Chicago, and Detroit (would anyone notice?). Fort Worth, and Texas in general, not so much (but not saying it couldn't or wouldn't happen).

The 'entitlement' class is growing bored with the status quo. Work is anathema to them. Plus, there's the excitement for them in 'sticking it to The Man'. So, voilà, get ready to see more of the same.

I'd say there ought to be a Korean Shopkeeper Ammo Fund, but the hell of it is is that it's not worth pulling a trigger on these hooligans and miscreants. We're in a serious mess.

  5. A thought to follow up on Ed Skinner's comment about figuring out they don't need cell tech to coordinate. Reports out of San Francisco indicate that BART was able to disrupt one of these mobs by disabling cell service to the area they were in. There was much uproar and a protest planned, with solemn warnings issued by the mobsters that there better not be any interruption in cell service this time. I wonder if these people can function without their electronic crutches?

  6. Saw that this morning. Affluent county, affluent town. Disarmed state.

This is happening more frequently than is reported. Adding to reason why Baltimore daughter is stockpiling, has a bug-out bag, and asked to borrow boyfriend's shotgun.

  8. This just makes me want to chew up nails and spit out tacks.

Lots of businesses in New Orleans have buzz-in systems. It's beginning to look like they were way ahead of the learning curve.

Alright, I kind of hate to be the voice of dissent, but "flash mobs" != "riots", and "flash mob" != "orgnaized mob theft", and conflating the concepts cheapens the language and confuses the situation.

'Side from that, you have my complete agreement.
