Remembering

Today is January 7th.

My father would have been 71 years old today.

I think that I will go down to the local food bank and make a donation in his name. He would have liked that.

Happy Birthday, Pop.

  1. What a great way to remember him. And the food bank is much in need, too.

  7. Yes, the birthdays can really be disheartening.

But you have found the best way to deal with them -- Doing something in their name which would be in character with their personality.

[Just a few days ago, I had a drink in memory of a great-uncle to whom I was close. How was that in character with him? He was the assistant manager of a liquor store! He definitely would appreciate it.

And, as a more practical gesture, I also made a donation in his name to an orphan home.]

If we make their memory for a blessing, then their memory will be for a blessing.
