Protective Services SWAT team coming if you have pictures of your kid with a gun?

Apparently so, in New Jersey at least.

Family’s Home Raided over Facebook Photo of Child’s Rifle

Fortunately the guy did the right thing and called his lawyer and refused to grant them the access to his gun safe that they were demanding. But this sets another new precedent in the government's war on us gun folk.

Now I wonder how long until I head from Child Protective Services over this shot of my nephew:

Or even the ASPCA over this one:

Yep. Ima be expecting company any day now.

  1. The family was denounced by an anonymous Facebook follower, in much the same way that neighbor denounced neighbor in the Soviet Union. No chance to confront the accuser, and when the organs of state security showed up, the woman refused to give her name, refused to show ID, and hid her face when the Moores attempted to photograph her. That's not the actions of an official of a benevolent government. It's the action of a tyranny.

  4. Would be interesting to know at what level this action was approved.

  6. I use great thoughtfulness in all photos I post of others. Never know when the rats will try to make your life miserable for being a law-abiding citizen. Got enough prepping to do without being poster-girl for anything.

Also, I've nominated you and your blog for a Liebster award. See more at Frugalprepblogspot.com in 2 posts, one today with the 'rules' should you choose to pass this along like the bad chain e-mail it is, one tomorrow with my selected 'winners'. Participation is purely voluntary, of course!

I used several criteria for my nominees. These include content that makes me think or stretches my perspective, devotion to family (including 4-legged) and a sense of humor.

  9. This governmental behavior is not an unknown thing among home schoolers - government agents showing up at your door unannounced demanding to speak to your children alone because of some nebulous "reports" that they were malnourished, dirty, unsupervised, and abused. It continues to happen today, although not as frequently as it used to because of the good work of organizations like the Homeschool Legal Defense Association.

  10. And New York is now giving up to $500 as an incentive to turn "your" neighbor in for "illegal" gun crimes.

Illegal...which is whatever they can make up to harass you.
