I've been watching Murphy for a couple of weeks now. Whenever he's excited or in the process of lying down, he always turns in circles. He'll stand by the door and turn in circles while waiting for me to come open it or see what's outside, and when he steps onto his dog bed--or when he's invited up onto my bed--he'll walk around in a circle once or twice before bedding down.
This is all well and good and unremarkable except for one fact: He ALWAYS turns to the right. Every time he turns a circle, it's always clockwise.
I have yet to see this dog turn to the left, even once. Even if I'm behind him on his left side and I summon him, he'll spin to the right to come to me.
OK, I know...I have no life. I need help. I get it.
But now that you've read this, I'll betcha that you watch your own dog for a while.
Only demon dogs circle widdershins.
ReplyDeleteThat's because we're north of the equator. :)
ReplyDeleteMcDuff (a Westie)always circles to the right too. His little pal Pepper (a Heinz terrier) is rather random.

Hey, I'm commenting on this post and I don't HAVE a dog! You are one up on me.
ReplyDeletemy dog was a southpaw. did everything left-front-paw first. spun to the left.
ReplyDeleteChloe always rotates counter clockwise. Maybe it's a male - female dog thing.
ReplyDeleteClearly, he's been watching too much Fox News.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I would if I had a dog, but Murphy will have to do... :-)
