Seen today--a gutterpunk.

Walking back to my office from breakfast, I passed this douchebag young man sitting on the sidewalk.

Twenty-something years old. Looks able-bodied, yet not at a job during working hours for most people. Panhandling instead. Sitting on a backpack, indicating that, like most young beggars in New Orleans, he came here from somewhere else. On purpose. Claims not to have enough money to subsist on, yet apparently has money for:
1. Stupid haircut.
2. Ear jewelry.
3. Tattoos.
4. Magic marker to print dumb Emo sign intended to make people feel sorry for him.

I so wanted to give him some wisdom regarding his apparent "bad luck" in life.

I didn't quite tell him that though, not even when he saw me snap the shot and demanded a dollar for taking his picture. THEN I channeled my inner Red Forman and asked him if he wanted my foot in his ass.

He wisely declined.

Pity. I could give him one, too. I've actually got a spare in my car.

Sad to see this great city infested with these gutterpunk losers, but they come here from all over the country to beg tourists for money for drugs and booze. And they do it because so many tourons (That's a "tourist" "moron" hybrid and they're common here) hand them cash. It's like feeding seagulls, people...stop it!

All these drug-using parasites hanging around bothering everyone (when not stealing or setting themselves on fire in abandoned buildings), yet the city council thinks that statues of old dead white guys are a bigger problem.

I can't wait until I get to vote in the next election here.

  1. They're parasites... And a fact of life in most southern cities...

  2. Do beggars need a permit in N"Awlins? If sho, ask for his permit. If not, ask for his permit. Either way, it'll confuse the shit outta him. Then, get out your phone and say you're calling the cops.

  3. We have those shitbirds here in Texas to. Tons of burger flipping jobs open (yes they are low paying jobs but they are paying jobs), Salvation Army has bunks and food (and rules to follow), but these people want to keep their 'freedom' by spending the money you made (at the sacrifice of your freedom for that day.) Nope... no soap. As it says in the Bible, "no work, no eat".

  4. And if anyone thinks you are a meanie just say...

"εἴ τις οὐ θέλει ἐργάζεσθαι μηδὲ ἐσθιέτω", that is, "If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat" 2 Thessalonians 3:10

  5. You do remember that elections in NOLA are sporting events, don't you? Better start working out! On the statuary note, I'm really happy the court issued a stay on moving the statues before trial.

  6. Better you did not give him a foot. It would have needed de-contamination afterward. Is there enough bleach?

  7. Sigh, when you see my "kid" (48 yrs old) doing that, and I'm sure you will, tell him to get back his meds (the legitimate legal ones) and do something useful or check himself in to the nearest hospital. Seriously.

  8. Ah the indigenous gutter punk. Who never seem to be from here. He must be new or just moving through, he doesn't seem to have a dog.

  9. There is a older beggar (50's 60's?) that all winter has shown up a couple of times a week at a fairly busy intersection here where I live, his cardboard sign says something like this "traveling, cold, hungry and broke" after doing a few hours at the intersection he walks down to a parking lot, gets in his car and drives away.
