Super Sunday!

In New Orleans, it means that the Mardi Gras Indians come out...and they paraded big time in central city today. Here's just a few of the many tribes that came together at A.L. Davis Park.

More pics here.

I had me a ton of good food, heard some great music, drank beer and jammed with the Indians all day long. Tough to beat a day like today.

  1. Those costumes have to be both hot AND heavy!

  3. I don't think that these are the Indians who broke Custer's 7th.

  4. Allow me to be so bold as to say, I like such parades and really see nothing wrong with them if done for fun with respect for the culture that is being honored. However, it would not work in all cases; just imagine Caucasians dressing up in Native American attire to celebrate that culture. There would ensue protests and possibly an outrage among the Native Americans, with broad support among leftists and it would be given heavy coverage by the mud slinging media. Now imagine Caucasians dressing up in African tribal outfits and having a parade to honor that culture and African Americans. I believe there would be a much larger outrage and possibly violent riots in that community. It always amazes me though that such behavior is good for the goose but not for the gander but such is the mess in which we find our society. Nice costumes and anyone who wishes to respectfully don them should be able to do so without anyone else getting their undies wadded up in their cracks and suffocating their brains.
