Sigh...

So I'm walking in the house with my Sunday take-home dinner. And as I'm walking in the door, the bag containing the food breaks and my dinner hits the floor upside down right in front of Murphy and Belle.

So that's my new diet plan, I guess. And it saves a lot of the dog food budget, too. I hope they liked that crawfish remoulade. It sure smelled good.

  1. Well, it seems like a fairly clear cut case of Lassie les bone temps rouler! Woof!

  2. The last time something like that happened here we found the food back on the floor a hour later after it caused a couple upset tummies.

    Hope I didn't jinx ya......

    1. Murphy can eat anything. He'd eat a pound of gravel and come back for seconds. Belle's a bit of a lightweight but she has a thing for cajun and creole so she'll likely be ok too. Canned soup for me though. Dogs got my Sunday dinner.

  3. The gift that will continue giving back when they buck chuck it up or worse....But I'd have paid good money to have seen your face when that bag failed....and yeah, it's happened to me too...

  5. If it weren't for bad luck, you'd have no luck at all. Gloom, despair and agony on you....

Did the dogs at least say thanks?

    1. Deep dark depression, excessive misery....

And nope, not even a "thanks" from the greedy bastards.

  6. Now they are wondering what they did to deserve such a treat.

  7. Oh damn... I'm afraid I'd have been fighting them for the food... LOL

  8. Do your dogs do the "Dad's got a bag!" dance when you come in like my little chowhounds do?
I'm with NFO - N'awlins cookin' is worth fighting for.

  9. Once the food splattered all over the fairly dusty and dog hair-covered floor, it was like "eff it--they can have it". But still...

They know not to beg and they keep their distance when I come in with food, but incidents like this don't exactly reinforce that training.

  10. That seems the perfect definition of lagniappe, at least to them! Good job on looking out for the pups!

  12. Training goes to the wind when a delicious, aromatic crawfish remoulade is splashed down right in front of them. It's as if you intended to do it. Then there is the completion between Murphy and Belle to see who can get more of it.

They were wishing for the bag to break.

  14. I would have put a lock-down on my overly complicated creole dinner before entering the house. One time I was struggling to get into my home while juggling one of those gentrified, yuppy pizzas. Well flop it went, it did a backflip onto the floor but I was able to salvage most of the pizza goodness. My cat was the beneficiary of some kalamata olives and feta cheese. Better luck next time.

  15. Did the dogs eat you or did you meet someone special?
