Come on, Ohio....Kill the guy already.

Romell Broom needs to be off our planet today. But those prison volunteers just can't seem to get it together.
LUCASVILLE, Ohio — Executioners struggled to find suitable veins to put a condemned inmate to death Tuesday in a prison scene reminiscent of the problems that delayed executions in 2006 and 2007 and led to changes in Ohio's lethal injection process.

The team of prison volunteers was having trouble inserting IVs into the arms of 53-year-old Romell Broom, who entered the death chamber at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility shortly before 2 p.m., said Tim Sweeney, one of Broom's attorneys.

Sweeney said execution team members took a break after struggling to access the Broom's veins.

He lost a last-minute appeal earlier in the day, delaying the execution originally scheduled for 10 a.m.

Messages were left for prison officials in Lucasville and for the Ohio Attorney General's office.

A medical evaluation Monday determined that veins in Broom's right arm appeared accessible, while those in his left arm were not as visible.

Broom is sentenced to die for raping and killing 14-year old Tryna Middleton in Cleveland in 1984.
Guys--he raped and murdered a 14 year old girl--someone's child. And this was after he'd already done time for raping another 12-year old girl. If you can't find a vein, I'll donate a baseball bat. Come to think of it, I'll just loan you the bat. I want it back when you're done. I'm betting I could auction it off for big bucks on eBay and donate the proceeds to a crime victims' fund.

Why wasnt he taken to the hospital and a shunt installed in his arm, taken back and given the injection?
This is ridiculous. Now the lawyers will have more time to delay this all over again. He will not be killed in a week. Mark my words.

Need a 'volunteer' to pull the trigger? I'm your girl.. I've got an 8 year old daughter and had it been my daughter.. Well.. It wouldn't be good..

I can't believe that they are concerned about being humane to a monster that would rape and kill a little girl. I'm not well versed on Ohio death sentence laws, but why don't they choose another method? Perhaps public hanging, firing squad? I suggest killing this animal the same way that he killed that little girl

  7. Why wait a week? When nurses couldn't find a vein on my husband they used a very sharp instrument and get the job done that way. This makes no sense to put it off like this.

  8. Couldn't they have just put a pillow over his face? I mean he was strapped down already.

You have got to be kidding, they couldn't find IV access..have they never heard of using an Intra Osseous Needle. Just drill it right into his bone, then infuse!!!!

  11. Apply a tourniquet to his arm , tighten it down HARD and veins will appear. Insert needle , deploy the juice and than relax the tourniquet.

    Simple.

It is a shame when some child screwing trash gets a reprieve because they destroyed all of their veins shooting up. Thanks to the ambulance chasers the art of sticking an angiocath in the carotid artery of a junkie is a well honed art for many emergency medical workers in this country. Its a shame they don't put up an open call for volunteers so someone who can do the job right has an opportunity to answer the call.

Just stick the needle in his juglar. Easy to get to in the throat. And if first you don't succeed, try try again.
