Number one gun is almost done

Back when the panic-buy silliness started (Thanks, Democrats), I managed to snag two AR lowers at a rice higher than previous market rate but much lower than the then-existing (and current) high "gouger" prices. I've been building both up to specific plans as parts have become obtainable at realistic prices, and the first of the pair is nearly complete, lacking for just a bolt carrier group, a rear sight and a better handguard cap, all of which are on order.

Here it is:

Also, as you can see, it's waiting on an AAC 51T flash hider, which will be required for reasons obvious to .300 AAC fans.

Oh, and did I mention that this one is chambered for the .300 AAC Blackout round?

Good times are in store.

Special thanks to: Essential Arms, Brownells, Midway, Magpul, Yankee Hill Manufacturing and DSArms for making this uniquely customized mongrel possible.

CMMG was no help at all. Avoid them like the plague.

It passes function checks with a BCG borrowed from another rifle. Now we just wait on the last few parts...and it's new suppressor and the appropriate optics. It was a touch pricier and more aggravating to build than it would have been six months ago, but it's proof that you can still ave an AR at a fair and even a decent price of you just shop wisely. (Oh--and Amazon Prime is fantastic for ordering bits and pieces without getting nailed for shipping! Who knew that that sold so many gun parts?)

I'm happy.

And there's still another one on the build rack, so the fun's far from done. If you think this one is slick, wait until you get a load of that one.

  10. FYI - if you plan on using a suppressor - skip the flash hider and go with the 51t muzzle brake... the muzzle brake will act act as sacrificial baffles prolonging your suppressors life.
